Competing for the second time this fall, and the first time at home, St. Ambrose defeated St. Francis (Ill.) 4-3 in a match play event Monday at Short Hills Country Club in East Moline, Ill.

The Bees won the final two matches of the day to pull out the victory.

Becki Meils defeated Hannah Mastandrea 6 and 5 in Match 6 and Maitlyn Sanders earned a 2 and 1 win over Erica Long in Match 7 to rally St. Ambrose.

SAU got off to a fast start as Alexis Dross won the opening match of the day 4 and 3 over Samantha Stearns. Emma Cameron followed that up with a 6 and 5 win over Dana Labiak in Match 2.

St. Francis won Matches 3-5 as Taylor Petz defeated Leah Sullivan (1 up), Kya Kafar beat Aiko Mendoza (7 and 6) and Shannon Smith defeated Kara Williams (4 and 2).

The Bees will wrap up the fall portion of their schedule Friday and Saturday at the Olivet Nazarene Tiger Intercollegiate, played at Kankakee Elks Country Club in St. Anne, Ill.
