Both men's and women's varsity bowling teams concluded regular-season competition this past weekend. The Bees competed at the 55th Annual Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. Always the most prestigious of all regular-season events, the tournament showcases 78 men's and 66 women's teams in annual competition that draws a majority of the top teams in the nation.

The St. Ambrose women came within a single game of earning their first title of the season this past weekend. Competing in the Warhawk Open in Addison, Ill., the Bees overcame a disastrous opening game, which saw the team in 19th place, ahead of just two teams. They continued to rally during the event, eventually making their way into fourth place heading into the eight-team match play finals bracket. The top three qualifiers were Mount Mercy (8563), Davenport (8157) and Calumet (8096), with St. Ambrose in fourth at 8030.

The St. Ambrose men's and women's bowling teams both finished sixth at this weekend's tier-1 National Match Games tournament. Hosted by McKendree University, the men competed at St. Clair Bowl, while the women competed at Bel Air Bowl, with both events being near St. Louis.

The St. Ambrose bowling program enjoyed some home cooking this weekend. Three men's teams and two women's teams competed at the 23rd annual Leatherneck Classic. The largest Tier 2 event in the nation, this represents the only tournament of the season hosted locally. Teams competed in four local centers across the Quad-City region. This season's lane pattern was a relatively flat, extremely challenging condition with the scoring pace being low.

Freshman Kendric Siders and fifth-year senior Cameron Crowe led the St. Ambrose men's bowling team to victory in the season's first Tier 1 event in Wauwatosa, Wis., this past weekend. Competing at the 52nd annual Midwest Collegiate Championships, the men rebounded from a tough loss last weekend in the season opener to take home the title match.

The men's and women's bowling squads are headed to Smyrna, Tenn., for collegiate sectionals competition, it was recently announced. This will be the third time in program history that the Fighting Bees have been placed in the Tennessee sectional; the Bees were also in Smyrna in 2014 and 2018. They were also placed there in 2020, but that year's competition was cancelled by the COVID pandemic. Competition will take place at Smyrna Bowl, just outside Nashville.
