Men, women take second at Five Seasons Classic

The St. Ambrose bowlers competed in the Five Seasons Classic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, over the weekend. In the teams' fourth event of the year, both the men and women took runner-up honors.

Behind Cameron Crowe's 225.6 average (1128-five games), the Bee men (9330 pins) were second to host Mount Mercy (9483). SAU went 7.5-2.5 in match play. Crowe placed third overall to earn all-tournament recognition. He was joined by Lucas Finley (1025-five games), Lucas Hersrud (775-four games), Devin Richards (763-four games), Kendric Siders (571-three games), Pedro Irizarry (384-two games), Nic Kidd (189-one game) and Justin Aboud (156-one game).

St. Ambrose also sent two JV men's teams to the tournament. JV1 took third with 8376 total pins while JV2 was fifth with 8133 pins in the 14-team field.

SAU JV1 was led by Anthony Mastroianni (991-five games), who finished 19th. He was joined by Will Young (942-five games), Alex Nolan (916-five games), Zack Olkiewicz (879-five games), Raiden Nakagawa (380-two games), Brendan DeWerth (189-one game), Jaxon Robinson (187-one game) and Logan Boll (180-one game).

The JV2 team featured Eli Haack (940-five games), Matthew Edler (938-five games), Josh Prowse (852-five games), Luke Kahuhu (826-four games), James Dubanowich (392-two games), Landon Mathiason (367-two games), Adam Reed (187-one game) and Chance Swan (144-one game).

The St. Ambrose women totaled 8948 pins to finish second to Mount Mercy (9583). SAU was 8-2, including a 5-0 mark Saturday, in head-to-head matches. Erin Williams led the way for the Bees, finishing fourth to earn all-tournament team recognition. She averaged better than a 217 over her five games (1087-five games).

Tricia Alvarado (1017-five games) finished ninth overall while Kayla Devine (999-five games) tied for 10th. Other team members included Sammy Upham (984-five games), Marissa Bills (953-five games), Amanda Bohn, Emily Barth and Noelle Phillips.

Maddie Ksobiech (949-five games), Madison Holevoet (884-five games), Hailee Hospodar (809-five games), Shaylin Brown (660-four games), Bailey Tripilas (610-four games), Alexis Peters (140-one game), Makenna Verdon (140-one game) and Shay Edwards competed for the women's JV team, which placed fifth.

The Bee bowlers will next compete in the Leatherneck Classic Nov. 11-12 in the Quad Cities.
