St. Ambrose competes at National Match Games

The St. Ambrose bowling team continued its season over the weekend at the National Match Games at St. Clair Bowl in Fairview Heights, Ill. The men placed third out of 23 teams while the Bee women were 11th in a field of 17.

The two day event featured traditional team play on Saturday before things wrapped up with Baker play Sunday.

Zach Greim and Cameron Crowe led the SAU men with top-10 finishes. Greim was seventh overall with 1378 pins over six games. Crowe was a single pin behind his teammate to place eighth. Also competing for St. Ambrose were Justin Aboud (1255 - 6 games), Ryan Speer (1016 - 5), Jordan Monnens (722 - 4) and William Jones (592 - 3).

The men finished third with 10,707 pins behind Wichita State (10,915) and Webber International (10,874).

On the women's side, Marissa Bills led the way. She collected 1079 pins over her six games. Also competing were Sarah Fox (909 - 5 games), Erin Williams (876 - 5), Amanda Bohn (838 - 5), Tricia Alvarado (510 - 3), Kayla Devine (498 - 3), Noelle Phillips (336 - 2) and Samantha Upham (184 - 1).

The women totaled 8836 pins to take 11th. McKendree won the women's title with a 10,461. Mount Mercy placed second and Wichita State took third.

St. Ambrose will return to action Dec. 3-4 at the Warhawk Open.
