Bills earns All-Tournament Team berth to help women take second in third straight event

St. Ambrose bowling competed this past weekend in the Five Seasons Classic in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This was the third event of the 2022-2023 campaign. 

The women are playing the bridesmaid this season so far, as they recorded their third consecutive runner-up tournament finish. They finished runner-up to host Mount Mercy this time out. Marissa Bills led the way for the Bees, finishing third to earn All-Tournament Team recognition. She scored 1068 over five games.

Alongside Bills (pictured below, in center), other team members included Erin Williams (980-5 games), Samantha Upham (908-5 games), Kayla Devine (770-4 games), Noelle Phillips (576-3 games), Tricia Alvarado (315-2 games), Sam Rodenbostel (163-1 game) and Bailey Tripilas.

The women's JV squad also enjoyed success at the event, finishing in a tie for third place. Team members were Madison Holevoet (906-5 games), Amanda Bohn (775-4 games), Sarah Fox (708-4 games), Lindsey Voss (535-3 games), Kayla Lampe (439-3 games), Hailee Hospodar (340-2 games), Jackie Juett (315-2 games) and Maddie Ksobiech (302-2 games).

The men came away with a clean sweep.

The varsity men struggled during Saturday's five team game competition, finding themselves with a 3-2 record and 225 pins behind host team Mount Mercy. On Sunday, they caught fire, winning all five matches, and averaging more than 216 for their 20 baker games. They squared off against Mount Mercy in the final match and prevailed to capture the championship.

Zach Greim (1099-5 games) led the way by finishing fourth and earning an All-Tournament Team berth. Other team members included Jordan Monnens (980-5 games), Cameron Crowe (958-5 games), Ryan Speer (576-3 games), Justin Aboud (565-3 games), Zack Denton (374-2 games) and William Jones (331-2 games).

The men's JV1 team also defeated Mount Mercy in the final match to prevail. Anthony Mastroianni led the way by making his first collegiate All-Tournament Team. Mastroianni averaged 220.20 for his five games, scoring 1101. Other men's JV1 team members were Alex Nolan (930-5 games), Caleb Gillmore (907-5 games), Corey Roth (759-4 games), Justin Kennedy (565-3 games), Brendan DeWerth (544-3 games), Mitchel Guzzle and Alton Barber.

The men's JV2 team finished in third place. Team members included Josh Prowse (952-5 games), William Young (936-5 games), Adam Kowalik (945-5 games), Thomas Cutsforth (754-4 games), Zack Olkiewicz (525-3 games), Chance Swan (292-2 games) and Chase Jamison (157-1 game).

All squads will return to action on Nov. 12-13 at the Leatherneck Classic in the Quad Cities.
