Crowe returns to lead Bees to Kegel Classic title; Hess continues amazing run

The incredible season for the SAU men continued at this past weekend's Kegel/ISBPA Classic in Addison, Ill.

In the strongest field of the year, the men came away with a dominant victory - their third tournament win of the season, and the sixth time in seven events they've posted the best overall team score. The Bees averaged a remarkable 222 for their 45 tournament games, and this gave them a total pinfall of 10,021, easily breaking the all-time tournament record. They came out on top of a 68-team field that included 22 of the top-25 ranked teams in the nation.

This is the fourth Tier 1 tournament title by the SAU men over the past three seasons. This event wasn't held in 2021, but it marked the second straight Kegel Classic title, as they won the event when last held in 2020.

Cameron Crowe returned to the lineup and bested the entire men's field by averaging 246 for his five games. Other team members included Nate Stubler (1181-five games), William Jones (1020-five games), Jordan Monnens (841-four games), Zach Greim (594-three games), Dakota Solonka (456-two games), Corey Roth (225-one game) and Seth Sikkema.

On the women's side, Megan Hess continued one of the most amazing streaks in St. Ambrose bowling history. The talented senior from Granger, Iowa, rolled a 288 in her final game to place second in a field of 342 bowlers representing 57 teams. That placed Hess on her fifth consecutive All-Tournament Team, and it helped her team to an eighth-place finish.

SAU finished with an 8536 pinfall total to finish eighth overall. The top-three finishers in the event were Mount Mercy (9461), Wichita State (9399) and Tennessee-Southern (8968).

Addy Nelson was also in great form, finishing in sixth place with a 1097 total for her five games. Teammates included Kayla Devine (972-five games), Tricia Alvarado (892-five games), Sammy Upham (456-three games), Kayla Lampe (305-two games) and Bailey Tripilas.

Varsity and JV squads return to action this weekend with the STORM Baker Challenge in Addison, Ill.
