Zac Exume was named the head women's basketball coach at St. Ambrose University on Apr. 21, 2023.

He arrived at St. Ambrose after spending one season as the head coach at Thomas University, an NAIA institution in Thomasville, Ga. There he recruited and developed a second-team all-Sun Conference performer.

"I'm very grateful to University President Amy Novak and Mike Holmes for this opportunity to lead such a well-respected program at St. Ambrose," Exume said. "I can't wait to get out there and spend some time getting to know the student-athletes, the faculty and administration, along with the Quad-City community."

Before arriving at Thomas University, Exume spent the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons as an assistant at NCAA Division II University of Arkansas at Monticello, where he helped develop the team's leading scorer, who also earned second team all-conference recognition.

Exume also has NAIA coaching experience from his two years serving as an assistant at Cincinnati Christian University from 2017-19. He helped guide that team to its most conference wins in more than a decade and a conference tournament berth.

"Our candidate pool was very strong," Holmes said. "Zac had a thorough plan and vision for the program, and scored well with the committee members and players. He is an enthusiastic and motivated person, which will serve us well in the program going forward."

Exume got his collegiate basketball coaching start at Miami University, where he served as a graduate manager for the men's basketball team from 2014-16. He has also been a girls assistant coach at Purcell Marian High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2019-20, and a boys assistant at Talawanda High School in Oxford, Ohio, in 2015-16.

He is also the author of the book "A Consistent and Successful Coaching Philosophy" published in 2017.

Originally from the state of Delaware, Exume earned a bachelor's degree in Mass Communications and Coaching from Delaware State University in 2014. He received a master's degree in Kinesiology & Health from Miami University in 2016.
