Bio

Gabby Suarez joined the St. Ambrose women's basketball coaching staff in 2023-24.

As a player, Suarez started her collegiate playing career at Cincinnati Christian University before the school shut down in the middle of her sophomore year. As a result, Suarez transferred to Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind. Throughout her time at IWU, Suarez and the Wildcats made two national tournament runs (2020 and 2021). In 2021, IWU defeated the No. 5-ranked Marion Knights in the Crossroads League Tournament Championship to secure their spot in the National Tournament. That year, Suarez led the Wildcats to the semifinals of the NAIA Women's Basketball Championship where they lost to the eventual champions Westmont Warriors.

After her junior season, Suarez transferred to Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla., to play under Coach Tim Hayes. In 2022, Suarez and the Fire won The Sun Conference Championship against Webber International (Fla.) to earn the No. 1 overall seed heading into the 2022 NAIA National Tournament. The Fire fell short against Dordt University (Iowa) in the semifinals of the NAIA Championships to finish the season with a 33-2 record. The following year, Suarez received NAIA All-American honorable mention and first team All-Sun Conference.

"Gabby is an enthusiastic individual with an impressive resume," SAU head coach Zac Exume said. "She has had an incredible journey as a student-athlete and would love nothing more than to give back and help this team be successful on and off the court. I am looking forward to seeing her connect with the young women in this program."

Suarez finished her undergrad at Southeastern, where she received her bachelor's in Business Studies. She is studying to earn her master's degree in Business Administration at St. Ambrose.
