Daughty's 28 points overshadowed in loss to RedHawks

Kashell Daughty hit six 3-pointers and scored 28 points but her effort was overshadowed by a 51-point performance from Indiana Northwest's Jessica Carrothers Saturday afternoon.

Carrothers finished 22-of-30 from the floor in powering the RedHawks past the Bees 85-67 in Lee Lohman Arena. Forty-five of her 51 came over the final three quarters.

Behind Carrothers, Indiana Northwest (15-10, 12-6 CCAC) shot nearly 59 percent from the floor. St. Ambrose, meanwhile, shot less than 36 percent.

A Daughty jumper had the Bees down just 19-15 in the opening minutes of the second quarter. Then Carrothers took over, scoring seven points in a row to help the RedHawks build a 26-15 advantage. Her 16-point quarter helped IUNW open a 37-24 halftime lead.

The margin never got under double digits in the second half.

Abby Wolter backed up Daughty's big game with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Caitlyn Thole finished with eight points and 12 boards.

Aryelle King came off the bench to add seven points. Kaitlyn Brunson scored six and Allie Govert added four.

Prior to the game, St. Ambrose (6-17, 6-12 CCAC) honored senior team manager Lily Reid on Senior Day.

The Bees will visit Saint Xavier Wednesday.
