Bees unable to keep up with unbeaten Titans

St. Ambrose made just 1-of-16 3-point attempts in an 81-44 loss at No. 19 Indiana South Bend Saturday afternoon.

The six-percent effort from deep came part of a 32-percent shooting performance overall for the Bees, derailing any upset hopes against the unbeaten Titans (24-0, 16-0 CCAC).

St. Ambrose (6-15, 6-10 CCAC) was down just 20-13 after one quarter before IUSB opened up a 44-25 halftime lead. The Titans broke things open in the fourth, outscoring the Bees 19-5, to account for the final margin.

Abby Wolter (6-of-9) and Caitlyn Thole (3-of-6) were the only two Bees to shoot at least 50 percent from the floor. Wolter finished with a team-best 13 points while Thole scored six.

Kashell Daughty scored eight points while Allie Govert matched Thole with six. Aryelle King finished with four points. Elly Doe, Kaitlyn Brunson and Kania Starks each scored two while Liz Fish added one.

SAU was out-rebounded 39-28 and committed 24 turnovers which led to 35 IUSB points. The Titans also shot better than 53 percent from the field.

St. Ambrose will return home to host Roosevelt Wednesday.
