Prestegaard, Wolter, Plumer honored by CCAC

All-CCAC Women's Basketball Team

Two St. Ambrose seniors and a freshman were honored by the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) as the conference announced its postseason women's basketball awards. Senior Jaynee Prestegaard was named second team all-conference, Abby Wolter was selected as the league's freshman of the year, and Wolter and senior Anna Plumer earned all-CCAC honorable mention.

For Prestegaard, this marked the second straight season she was named to the all-CCAC second team. She also earned honorable mention as a sophomore in 2021. The 5-11 forward from Amboy, Ill., averaged 14.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 2.0 blocked shots per game. She ranked among the conference top-10 in all three categories (10th in scoring, sixth in rebounding and second in blocks).

This season, Prestegaard posted 14 double-doubles, including six over the Bees' final eight games. She registered 23 games with at least one blocked shot. She also matched a pair of single-game school records - field goals made without a miss (9-for-9 vs. Bellevue) and blocked shots (eight vs. Olivet Nazarene).

Prestegaard now ranks 32nd on SAU's career scoring list with 1,106 points. She is fourth in career blocked shots (173) and ninth in career rebounds (785).

Wolter is the third Bee to be named the CCAC's Freshman of the Year since St. Ambrose joined the conference in 2015-16, alongside Madi Epperson (2018) and Kylie Wroblewski (2020). The 5-11 forward from Keokuk, Iowa, made 26 starts as a freshman, averaging nearly 30 minutes per contest. She averaged 14.6 points on 52.8-percent shooting and 6.4 rebounds per game. After scoring seven points in each of her first two collegiate games, Wolter scored in double figures in 24 of the team's final 27 games. She recorded four double-doubles.

Plumer received all-CCAC honorable mention for the second consecutive year after averaging 10.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 steals per game. The 5-9 guard/forward from Canton, Ill., was sixth in the conference with 56 made 3-pointers this season. She shot 56-of-163 from three, good for a 34.4-percent touch, the ninth-best 3-point percentage in the league. She was also an 85.1-percent shooter from the line, the second-best mark in the CCAC. Plumer finished her four-year SAU career with 175 threes and shot better than 38 percent from beyond the arc and 82.2 percent from the line.

St. Ambrose was also selected as the league's annual Champion of Character Team. It marked the fifth time in six years SAU has received the honor.
