Prestegaard named CCAC Player of the Week

CHICAGO --- A career night last Wednesday has propelled St. Ambrose University's Jaynee Prestegaard (Amboy, Ill.) to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for the seven-day period ending Jan. 15, the league office announced on Tuesday.

Prestegaard scored a career-high 34 points on 72.2 percent shooting from the field (13-of-18) and 80 percent accuracy at the foul line (8-of-10) and matched her career best of 16 rebounds in a 103-100 setback to Olivet Nazarene University on Wednesday. If that was not enough, she also tied the SAU record for blocks in a game with eight.

The senior forward followed up that spectacular effort with another 23 points on 55.6 percent shooting (10-of-18) Saturday in an 85-74 victory over Roosevelt University. In that game, she also recorded five rebounds, two assists and one block.

Prestegaard's combined totals for the week had her at 28.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per game. She also shot 63.9 percent from the field (23-of-36) and 78.6 percent at the foul line (11-of-14).

St. Ambrose's split decision on the week puts the Fighting Bees at 12-6 overall and 8-3 in conference play.
