Strong fourth quarter propels Bees to victory

The St. Ambrose Fighting Bees were able to pull away in the second half during their 83-66 win over Roosevelt inside Lee Lohman Arena Saturday afternoon. The win takes the Bees to 2-3 overall, and 1-1 in the CCAC. The Lakers fell to 1-3 and 1-2 in the CCAC.

The Bees took a 30-28 lead into halftime and were able to expand their lead in the second half. Their largest lead in the second half was 23 points and they were able to outscore Roosevelt 28-14 in the fourth quarter. They held a 42-23 rebounding advantage over the Lakers, and were also able to force 21 Roosevelt turnovers.

The Bees had three players score in double digits on the afternoon. Abby Wolter led all scorers with 25 points, Mel Stewart had 22, and Caroline Cool had 10. Anna Plumer chipped in six points and five rebounds, and Jaynee Prestegaard had seven rebounds and four steals. Caitlyn Thole provided eight points and two rebounds off the bench, and Olivia Harter made two big 3-point shots on back-to-back possessions to help the Bees extend their lead in the fourth quarter. Olivia Cantu also had four points and six rebounds off the bench.

The Bees continue CCAC play on Wednesday at Olivet Nazarene.
