St. Ambrose drops second in a row at Grand View Classic

Despite a 15-point, 12-rebound double-double from Kylie Wroblewski, St. Ambrose fell to Grand View 82-62 on the final day of the Grand View Classic in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Bees couldn't keep up with a Vikings team that hit 14-of-31 from beyond the arc in dropping their second straight.

The Bees also hurt their own cause, getting outscored 20-5 in points off turnovers after commiting 18 miscues.

The deficit was just 38-32 at the half but a difference from 3-point range proved key in the third quarter. While Grand View (3-0) was an efficient 3-for-4, St. Ambrose misfired on all eight of its 3-point tries. That helped the Vikings outscore the Bees 21-12 in the frame to grab a 59-44 lead.

SAU got within 12 points in the final period before GVU pulled away late.

Wroblewski was one of three Bees to score in double figures. Abby Wolter scored 12 points and Mel Stewart added 11.

Jaynee Prestegaard finished with eight points, Anna Plumer had six and Caitlyn Thole added five. Olivia Harter (three points) and Abby Lundquist (two) rounded out the St. Ambrose scoring.

The Bees, now 1-2 overall, will open CCAC play Wednesday at Judson.
