Bees avenge November loss with 74-52 victory over Trolls

Kylie Wroblewski had a monster night with 14 points and 18 rebounds to lead St. Ambrose to a 74-52 win over Trinity Christian Monday night in Lee Lohman Arena.

Wroblewski was one of four Bees to score in double figures in a victory that avenged one of the team's two earlier losses this season.

Wroblewski, Jaynee Prestegaard (13 points) and Madeline Prestegaard (12 points) helped St. Ambrose outscore Trinity 44-12 in the paint. The three Bees also combined for 30 rebounds as SAU out-rebounded the Trolls 47-34.

As is their custom, the Bees also got it done on the defensive end. Trinity Christian (12-12, 7-11 CCAC) shot less than 30 percent from the field, including a 25-percent mark (7-of-28) from beyond the arc. Gabby Kreykes, the NAIA's third-leading scorer at 24.5 points per game, who torched the Bees for 40 points in an 82-78 TCC win in November, finished with 19 points. She was just 6-of-16 from the field.

St. Ambrose (24-2, 17-2 CCAC) led just 42-39 after three, but blew things open in the fourth. A 14-2 run sparked the Bees, who outscored the Trolls 23-7 over the game's final seven-plus minutes. SAU connected on 9-of-14 shots in the quarter. After converting just 3-of-9 free throws through the first three quarters, the Bees were 14-of-16 from the line in the fourth.

Mel Stewart scored 10 points and Maddy Cash narrowly missed double figures, netting nine. Shayne Smith finished with seven points and a team-high four assists.

Sarah Goldensoph (four points), Avari Everts (three) and Abby Lundquist (two) combined with Madeline Prestegaard and Stewart to score 31 points off the Bee bench.

St. Ambrose will play its second of three straight home games Saturday against Holy Cross. The Senior Day contest will tip off at 1 p.m.
