Prestegaard and Wroblewski combine for 42 in win at Calumet

Jaynee Prestegaard and Kylie Wroblewski combined for 42 points and 21 rebounds to power St. Ambrose past Calumet St. Joseph 60-44 in Whiting, Ind., Tuesday night.

The duo combined to shoot 17-of-34 from the floor in nearly outscoring the Crimson Wave themselves.

The pair set the tone early, combining for 18 of the team's 20 first-quarter points as SAU built a 20-12 lead.

Despite Calumet (0-5, 0-5 CCAC) climbing to within five points midway through the second quarter, St. Ambrose was never seriously threatend. The lead grew to as many as 17 points in the third quarter and St. Ambrose maintained a 48-34 advantage heading into the final period.

Prestegaard and Wroblewski each had four of the Bees' first eight points of the fourth quarter to prevent any Wave comeback hopes.

Prestegaard finished 9-of-17 from the floor in scoring 22 points. She also grabbed 10 rebounds.

Wroblewski was 8-of-17 overall on her way to 20 points. She pulled down 11 boards.

They helped SAU finish with a 43-28 rebounding advantage.

The other eight Bees who saw action combined for the other 18 points. Anna Plumer had half of those, coming off the bench to drop in 4-of-6 shots from the field, including a 3-pointer, in netting nine points.

Madeline Prestegaard added four points, Avari Everts and Sarah Goldensoph each scored two, and Abby Lundquist hit a free throw in the win.

Maddy Cash collected seven rebounds and matched Lundquist with a team-high three steals.

St. Ambrose limited Calumet to 36 percent shooting from the field, and the Crimson Wave misfired on all 10 of their 3-point attempts.

The Bees, now 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the CCAC, will step out of conference play to host Graceland Sunday at 2 p.m.
