Plumer and Prestegaards key win over Trolls

Anna Plumer scored 26 points and Madeline and Jaynee Prestegaard each posted a double-double to lead St. Ambrose to a 74-61 win over Trinity Christian Monday night.

Plumer knocked down six 3-pointers, all in the first half, in netting a career high.

In a game of runs, it was the Bees who struck first. Behind three triples from Plumer, St. Ambrose raced to a 20-6 lead just over six minutes into the contest. Then it was Trinity Christian's turn. The Trolls (5-10, 1-6 CCAC) scored 10 of the final 12 points of the quarter to claw to within 22-16 at the end of one.

Trinity got as close as four points midway through the second quarter before another SAU run. Three more 3-pointers from Plumer and one from Maddy Cash helped spark a 14-4 spurt that pushed the lead to 40-26 before the Bees settled for a 40-28 lead at the half.

Two free throws from Plumer and a three from Abby Lundquist extended the advantage to 45-28 in the opening minutes of the third quarter. The Trolls again made a charge, getting to within six before the Bees re-established a 56-46 edge entering the fourth.

After Trinity made another push to cut the deficit to 58-52, St. Ambrose went on a final game-clinching run. Plumer and Jaynee Prestegaard each scored four points and Madeline Prestegaard had three during an 11-0 spurt that opened up a 69-52 lead with less than four minutes to play. SAU was able to maintain a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Plumer finished 6-of-10 from beyond the arc, while adding six rebounds and four assists. She helped St. Ambrose shoot 50 percent from the floor, including a 9-of-18 mark from 3-point range. The Trolls were just 6-of-33 from deep.

Madeline Prestegaard scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, seven of those coming on the offensive end. Jaynee Prestegaard dropped in 14 points and pulled down 10 boards, five of those offensive. The two sisters helped the Bees out-rebound the Trolls 45-26.

Cash scored 10 points to go along with five rebounds, and Lundquist poured in six points.

SAU, now 9-5 overall and 4-3 in the CCAC, will host Olivet Nazarene Wednesday.
