DoniRae Mayhew joined the St. Ambrose softball coaching staff in the summer of 2022.

Mayhew was a three-time all-conference selection, a three-time first team all-state honoree, and a Gatorade Player of the Year while playing at Bettendorf High School. She then attended Kirkwood Community College where she led the NJCAA DII in home runs, RBIs and total bases in 2018. She was named the NFCA National Player of the Year, an NFCA first team All-American and the conference player of the year. She also had a pitching record of 20-3.

After Kirkwood, Mayhew transferred to the University of Iowa to play for the Hawkeyes.
