Erdrich becomes program leader in career stolen bases

Shai Erdrich became the St. Ambrose softball career stolen base leader in the Bees' doubleheader sweep of Olivet Nazarene Wednesday at the St. Vincent Athletic Complex.

Entering the day just one short of Olivia McClintock's record of 129 steals, Erdrich tied the mark in the fourth inning of the first game. She beat out an infield hit before earning steal No. 129 when she swiped second.

The record became solely hers in the first inning of Game 2.

After reaching on a bunt single, Erdrich promptly stole second to break McClintock's record that was established in 2022. Erdrich wasn't done. She immediately stole third and came around to score before adding another steal of second in the fifth inning.

The senior outfielder from Aurora, Ill., has stolen 44 bases this year, matching her season total from a year ago, and giving her 132 in her Bee career. This season, she has stolen at least one base in 24 games, and has multiple steals in 12 games. Erdrich is also nearing McClintock's single-season record of 47 steals set in 2022.
