Bees get two more wins at second Dome Tournament

St. Ambrose hosted its second of three consecutive Dome Tournaments Saturday and Sunday in the Ambrose Dome. The Bees split their four games, defeating Mount Marty 3-2 and William Penn 7-2 and dropping two to Madonna by scores of 6-1 and 9-0.

SAU jumped on Mount Marty early, getting a run in the bottom of the second as Shai Erdrich drove in Erica Ralfs. Then in the fourth, Mady Reed scored on a wild pitch and Laurel Politsch followed with a ground out that scored Taylor Martyn to push the lead to 3-0.

Mount Marty got its two runs in the fifth before Erica Ralfs recorded the final six outs to earn the save.

Leah Maro picked up the win, allowing one hit while striking out three over four scoreless innings. Annebelle Krull pitched the fifth before Ralfs struck out three over the final two frames.

Alyssa Schumacher had two of SAU's four hits. Erdrich and Mackenzie Stiewe had the others.

Madonna silenced the St. Ambrose bats in the final game Saturday and the first game Sunday. The Bees managed just three hits in each game and struck out a combined 27 times.

Erdrich, Martyn and Becca Haag had the hits in the 6-1 loss Saturday with Haag's solo home run in the sixth accounting for the team's only run. Emilee Erickson took the loss. Chloe Mitchell struck out four over four scoreless innings of relief.

Haag added another hit in Sunday's loss to Madonna. Schumacher and Reagan Engberg had the other two. Cara Linnenkamp was charged with the loss. Ralfs tossed the final three innings.

The Bees bounced back by closing the weekend with a 7-2 win over William Penn. SAU scored multiple runs in three separate innings.

Reagan Engberg got St. Ambrose on the board with an sacrifice bunt in the third. Martyn and Erdrich scored in the frame. Martyn's single in the fourth brought in both Reed and Haag to extend the lead to 4-0. SAU broke things open in the fifth. Erdrich scored on a wild pitch, Schumacher's triple scored Engberg and Kirkman followed with a sacrifice fly to plate Schumacher. William Penn scored single runs in the sixth and seventh to account for the final score.

Emilee Erickson picked up the win with three strikeouts over three innings. Leah Maro and Chloe Mitchell each pitched two innings to close out the victory.

SAU will host its final Dome Tournament next weekend.
