SAU closes home slate with sweep of Cardinal Stritch

St. Ambrose defeated Cardinal Stritch by scores of 2-0 and 7-4 in their home finale Tuesday at the St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.

The Bees were able to get strong starting pitching performances in both games.

In the first game, Erica Ralfs threw a complete-game shutout with 13 strikeouts. Ralfs was also able to contribute with her bat. Her fourth inning single scored Alyssa Schumacher to give the Bees a 1-0 advantage. In the sixth inning, Schumacher's sacrifice bunt allowed Allison Polly to score to give the Bees a 2-0 advantage. It was a lead Ralfs was able to maintain.

In game two, Kayla Stenger led the offense with three RBIs. The Bees were able to score three runs in the first two innings. Stenger had a two RBI double in the first inning, and then Ralfs added a RBI single in the second inning. Paige Kirkman and Eryn Cornwell each added an RBI in the fifth inning. In the sixth inning, Stenger and Polly each added another RBI. Emilee Erickson earned the win by giving up just one run in five innings. Kayla Roemer recorded the last four outs in relief.

The Bees (23-22, 10-7 CCAC) will complete their suspended game at Saint Xavier on Wednesday before closing the regular season at Indiana South Bend on Thursday.
