Swarm of Bees help St. Ambrose to second place at Fighting Bee Invitational

St. Ambrose men's cross country swarmed Crow Creek Park on Bettendorf Saturday morning and took second place at the Fighting Bee Invitational. SAU placed five runners in the top ten to finish with 35 team points. William Penn claimed the team title with 24 points.

WP had the top four finishers in the meet, but then the Bees came through the line. Ian Eller (26:43) took fifth, followed closely by Chris Miserendino (26:45) in sixth. Will Dowda was next with a time of 26:57 to claim seventh, and Luke Benes was eighth, running in 27:10. Ross Willerth was the final top 10 finisher for SAU, taking ninth with a 27:21. Noah Maske was the next St. Ambrose runner to cross the line, taking the 13th spot with a time of 27:36. Nathan Boleyn (28:44), Tommy Ashby (29:03), Bryan Flentge (29:08), Brennon Munch (29:17), and Kevin Chaney (29:45) also ran for SAU. Benes (12s), Dowda (75s), Ashby (99s), Eller (1:55), Miserendino (2:05), Maske (2:20), and Flentge (4:42) set Crow Creek Course PRs. Maske (36s), Chaney (45s), Miserendino (53s), Eller (76s), and Willerth (1:50) set overall PRs.

SAU will race next at the Brissman Lundeen Invitational in Rock Island, Ill. on September 30th.
