Bio

Aaron Bartels joined the SAU wrestling program as an assistant coach prior to the 2021-22 season.

Bartels came with more than a decade of wrestling coaching experience. He began his coaching career as a varsity assistant at Davenport West High School from 2008-12. Bartels has been a coach for the Bettendorf Wrestling Club since 2012. He served as club president from 2019-21.

Bartels wrestled collegiately at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa from 2004-08. He recieved his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology: Exercise Science in 2008.

Bartels is a National Academy of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer, working professionally as a Performance Enhancement Specialist and Corrective Exercise Specialist. He is also a certified USA Weightlifting level 1 Sports Performance coach. He has 13 years professional experience as a strength coach, individually working with wrestlers and athletes from all sports, in weightlifting, injury rehab, sports performance, and nutrition. Bartels is currently the Owner/Trainer at Custom Fit Personal Training in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Aaron and his wife Amy live in Davenport, Iowa. They have three children, Jackson, Camden and Ellie.
