SAU scores wins over Graceland, William Penn

The St. Ambrose wrestling team had a successful week as they earned dual meet wins at Graceland Tuesday and at home against William Penn Wednesday.

Against Graceland, Steele Dias started off the night with a 6-3 decision at 125 pounds to get the Bees out to a 3-0 lead early. At 157 pounds, Josh Zeman won by decision securing a 6-3 victory. After Graceland had built a 14-6 lead, Jayden Terronez helped turn momentum with a 4-0 decision at 174 pounds. Dylan Meiners immediately followed by pinning his opponent early in the second period at 184 pounds to put the Bees in front 15-14.

The Yellowjackets earned a 7-3 win at 197 pounds to regain a 17-15 lead. But at heavyweight, Jeremiah Morris came through, securing a 6-3 decision victory to clinch the victory 18-17 for the Bees.

Against William Penn, Dias set the tone for the Bees once again. He won via major decision 13-0 to get the Bees off to an early 4-0 advantage. At 141 pounds, Guiseppe Guerra earned a major decision of his own with a 12-4 victory. At 174 pounds, Terronez wasted no time at all by securing a pin just 47 seconds into the match. Meiners (184 pounds) and Tyreese Johnson (197 pounds) each recorded decision wins of their own to propel the Bees to the 20-18 win.

The Bees are in action again Saturday when they head to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to participate in the Coe Invite.
