Daniel Terronez leads Bees at Missouri Valley Invitational

Daniel Terronez led St. Ambrose with three wins, advancing to the sixth round in the consolation bracket, at the Missouri Valley Invitational Friday and Saturday.

After a first-round bye at 149 pounds, Terronez started his run with a 13-5 major decision in the second round. He then fell to the consolation draw before posting 5-3 and 3-1 decisions. His run ended with a 9-6 decision.

Jayden Terronez also reached the third round in the championship bracket. He controlled his first two matches at 165 pounds, pinning his first opponent in 2:12 before claiming a 17-1 technical fall in 4:42. He lost his next two matches.

Four other Bees each won one match. Ariel Vega won by fall in 3:31 at 125 pounds. Also at 125 pounds, Mick Chagnon pinned his opponent in 6:35. Diego Machado picked up an 11-3 major decision at 157 pounds and Slade Dias won 16-11 at 157 pounds for SAU.

Riley Woods (141 pounds), Parker Terronez (149), Chris Bridges (174), Thade Gottschalk (174), Dylan Meiners (184) and Tyler Casey (197) also competed for St. Ambrose.

The Bees will next compete in the Dave Edmonds Open in Sioux City, Iowa, on Feb. 4.
