St. Ambrose competes at Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invite

St. Ambrose continued its season at the Cliff Keen-Mike Duroe Invitational in Mount Vernon, Iowa, Saturday. Several Bees recorded wins in the event hosted by Cornell College.

Blake Dirksen and Parker Terronez led SAU by each earning 2.5 team points. Dirksen pinned his opponent in 2:15 in the second round of the consolation bracket at 149 pounds. Terronez also won by fall, needing just 59 seconds to record the win in a consolation match in the 149 pound draw.

Cael Grell earned an 18-0 technical fall in his run at 157 pounds.

Competing unattached, Isaac Martinez picked up a pair of victories at 133 pounds. He won by fall in 1:11 and followed that up with a 6-2 decision. His tournament came to end in the fourth round of consolation matches.

Ariel Vega (125 pounds), AJ Johnson (157), Ethan Blair (165) and Jack Merlo (174) also competed for the Bees as SAU finished 13th overall.

Next Friday and Saturday, St. Ambrose will compete in the Missouri Valley Invitational in Marshall, Mo.
