Meiners wins Most Falls Award at Blithe Memorial Duals

Dylan Meiners won the Most Falls Award at the Blithe Memorial Duals hosted by Cornerstone in Grand Rapids, Mich., Friday and Saturday. Meiners won five matches at 184 pounds, all by pin, and needed just a combined 7:24 to accomplish the feat.

After dropping his first match in a dual against Wis.-Eau Claire, Meiners won his final five matches. He needed less than two minutes in each of his first three victories, coming over opponents from Defiance, Albion and Cornerstone. Meiners needed 2:16 to pin his opponent from Siena Heights before ending the event with a fall in just seven seconds against Wheaton.

His first win helped propel St. Ambrose to a 39-17 victory over Defiance Friday. Jeremiah Morris also won by fall at heavyweight in 1:24. Daniel Terronez earned a 20-3 tech fall win at 149 pounds and Diego Machado won a 9-1 major decision at 149 pounds. The Bees also picked up forfeit victories from Mick Chagnon (125 pounds), Ethan Blair (165) and Chris Bridges (174).

Machado went unbeaten in four bouts while Parker Terronez was a perfect 3-0 at 149 pounds and Jayden Terronez won both of his matches at 165 pounds over the weekend.

Along with his big win over Defiance, Machado earned a 17-0 tech fall over his opponent from Wis.-Eau Claire. Jayden Terronez won an 8-4 decision in the Bees' 38-8 loss.

Machado and Jayden Terronez also joined Meiners with dominant wins in a 37-14 loss to Albion. Machado won a 10-0 major decision and Terronez won 12-2.

Machado's final win was a 6-3 decision in SAU's 34-19 loss to Cornerstone to start the action Saturday. Parker Terronez pinned his opponent in 1:33 and Morris earned an 18-7 major decision for the other St. Ambrose wins.

Parker Terronez pinned his opponent from Siena Heights in just 35 seconds in the Bees' 33-15 loss. Slade Dias battled to an 8-6 sudden-victory win at 157 pounds.

St. Ambrose dropped its final dual of the weekend to Wheaton 38-18. Parker Terronez won by fall in 38 seconds and Blair won by injury default at 165 pounds.

The Bees will return home to face Waldorf in a dual Wednesday.
