Bio

Ray Green was named the head men's volleyball coach at St. Ambrose in November 2019.

In his time at SAU, Green has coached eight all-conference performers, including first-selections Jason Bageanis (2022) and Nick Fox (2023).

He joined the Bees after spending the previous 12 years as the head coach of the Lyon College women's volleyball team. At Lyon, Green won 180 matches. His 2019 team posted a 20-15 record, the program's first 20-win season since 2005. The 2019 campaign also saw Green earn his 200th career victory.

During his 12 years at Lyon, Green led the Scots to seven straight American Midwest Conference Tournament appearances. He coached 26 all-conference players, two AVCA-NAIA all-region selections, and one AVCA-NAIA honorable mention All-American. He also had 53 players earn academic all-conference recognition.

Green served as an assistant men's coach at NCAA Division I Rutgers University in Newark, N.J., from 2001-04. He helped Rutgers to the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association finals in 2004, where the team fell to Penn State. Green also assisted the women's team at Rutgers, helping the 2003 team to a 25-6 record and a spot in the NCAA Division III National Tournament for the first time in school history.

Green got his collegiate head coaching start at NCAA Division I Manhattan College in 2004. He led the Lady Jaspers to the 2006 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament semifinals.

Green is also involved with the development of youth players through Junior Olympic club volleyball. He and his wife Jennifer founded and directed Club Verde Volleyball Club, developing volleyball players between the ages of 8-18. He has also been involved with USA Volleyball in various regions and at the national level through the USA High Performance Program.

He earned his degree in photography from Virginia Intermont College.
