Rally comes up short in conference loss to the Tigers

After earning their way back into the win column this past weekend, the Bees came up short to conference foe, Olivet Nazarene. The Bees and Tigers went toe to toe in the first set, ultimately with the Tigers taking the set 26-24. Set one called for a nail-biter with several lead changes throughout. The largest lead either team had in the first set was no more than three points. Set two proved to be a similar feat before Olivet pulled away, earning the last six of seven points, securing the 25-20 lead. The Tigers had that momentum going into the third set before St. Ambrose rallied off five straight points backed by a kill from Jon Guch to put the Bees within striking distance early. After the Tigers went on a 10-0 run, the Bees were never able to find their momentum again with the Tigers taking set three, 25-16.

Jon Guch and Nick Fox led the way with 10 and eight kills respectively. Cael Anderson chipped in seven with a team leading kill percentage. Anthony Anderson and Andreas Indicatti Mariani ran the offense with similar feats. Anderson earned 13 assists while Mariani collected 10. Ethan Chausse and Mariani each had a team high five digs.

St. Ambrose will travel to Canton, Mo. for a triangular match up with Culver-Stockton and Central Christian. The Bees have earned wins over both squads earlier in the season. Both matches are slated for Friday evening. St. Ambrose is scheduled to play Culver-Stockton at 3:30 p.m. and Central Christian at 5:30 p.m before returning to conference play next week, Tue. 19.
