Bees post second-straight CCAC victory

St. Ambrose cruised to its second-straight conference win in a 25-14, 25-22, 25-23 victory over Trinity International Tuesday night in Deerfield, Ill.

The Bees finished with 41 total kills and just 14 hitting errors while the Trojans collected 17 kills and 16 errors.

After taking the first two sets, SAU trailed by three points as late as 22-19 in the third. A Charlie Flynn kill and a TIU hitting error brought the Bees to within a point. Trinity International (0-18, 0-12 CCAC) extended to a 23-21 lead, but that would be the Trojans' final point. A kill from Jon Guch and an ace from Dillon Markley knotted the score at 23-23. Dan Rice put down a kill to give SAU a 24-23 lead. A Guch kill closed out the win.

Sixteen different Bees played in the victory. Guch led the way with nine kills. Flynn had eight and Rice and Jake Powers each had five. Cael Anderson, Nick Fox and Zander Larson recorded three kills apiece, and Anthony Anderson and Richard Reed finished with two each. Matt Pettke also put down a kill.

Anthony Anderson had a match-high 32 assists. Markley and Ethan Chausse each passed out four.

Anthony Anderson also led the team with 13 digs. Markley picked up nine, Kendrett Green had six and Jesse Moreno finished with five.

Markley and Kyle Schelonka each had two of the Bees' seven aces.

St. Ambrose (6-18, 5-6 CCAC) will close out the home portion of its season Thursday night when the Bees host Judson on Senior Night.
