SAU falls in four sets at Augustana

In a tightly-contested match, St. Ambrose fell at Augustana 25-22, 19-25, 25-21, 29-27 Tuesday night.

After splitting the first two sets, the Bees held leads late in both the third and fourth sets, but couldn't do enough down the stretch. Over the four sets, the Vikings (6-3) outscored the Bees by just three points, 98-95.

Mikolaj Zielonka and Jon Guch led St. Ambrose with eight kills apiece. Nick Fox put down seven, Richard Reed and Dan Rice each recorded six and Cael Anderson added two.

Ethan Chausse was credited with 30 assists in the loss. Jesse Moreno picked up eight digs.

Reed (three) and Dillon Markley (two) combined for five of the team's eight service aces. Zielonka, Rice and Fox were each in on four blocks.

St. Ambrose, now 4-8 overall, will return to CCAC play Thursday with a match at Calumet. SAU is 3-1 in the conference.
