SAU moves to 2-0 in CCAC play with sweep of TIU

For the first time in three years, St. Ambrose is off to a 2-0 start in CCAC play.

The Bees evened their overall record at 2-2 and remained perfect in conference play following a 25-10, 25-19, 25-16 win over Trinity International Tuesday night at Lee Lohman Arena.

SAU was in control from the start. The Bees posted nine kills and had just one hitting error in dominating the opening set. They didn't let up. St. Ambrose totaled 12 kills against five errors in the second set and completed the sweep with 15 kills and just four errors in the final set.

The 36 total kills and 10 errors led to a .382 hitting percentage. Trinity International (0-4, 0-2 CCAC) finished with 14 kills and 13 hitting errors.

Eighteen Bees received playing time in the win.

"Great night for the team!" said SAU head coach Ray Green. "We were able to get everyone some well-deserved court experience. I'm proud that we stayed focused and on task each set."

Dan Rice led the way with 12 kills in 13 attempts to post a .923 hitting percentage. Jake Powers put down five kills, and Jon Guch, Mikolaj Zielonka and Zander Larson had four kills apiece. Nick Fox and Cael Anderson each had a pair of kills. Charlie Flynn and Kendrett Green each posted a single kill.

Ethan Chausse (16) and Anthony Anderson (14) combined for 30 of the team's 36 assists. Dillon Markley added four.

Anderson, Zielonka and Colin Teresi each recorded three aces. Richard Reed had one as the Bees collected 10 overall. The Trojans had just two aces.

Eight Bees picked up multiple digs. Markley led the team with six. Anderson and Reed each had four. Chausse had three, and Rice, Zielonka, Ryan Hudson and Jesse Moreno had two each.

SAU will look to continue its unbeaten conference start Thursday with a match at Judson.
