St. Ambrose drops match at No. 15 Saint Xavier

A tough early-season schedule didn't get any easier for the Bees Monday night. Already with a pair of five-set losses, and playing a team receiving votes in the NAIA national poll for the third time, St. Ambrose fell at No. 15 Saint Xavier 25-14, 25-16, 25-17.

The Bees struggled to get much going against the conference-leading Cougars. SAU finished with just 18 total kills, with no player on the team having more than Jason Bageanis's five. SXU (13-5, 6-0 CCAC) had 18 kills in the third set alone. St. Ambrose also finished with 15 hitting errors to end with a .051 hitting percentage.

Skyler Marushige was second on the team with four kills. Nick FoxRichard Reed and Jeramie Gutierrez each put down three.

Jake Snyder collected 17 of the Bees' 18 assists. Jesse Moreno was credited with nine digs.

Things don't get any easier for St. Ambrose, now 2-8 overall and 2-4 in the CCAC. The Bees will host No. 5 William Penn Thursday at 7 p.m.
