Throws squad ranked No. 1 in NAIA event squad rankings

The St. Ambrose throwers are ranked No. 1 in the shot put in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) event squad rankings released on Jan. 30.

The USTFCCCA uses cumulative season-best qualifying marks from a team's top-four ranked athletes to create the rankings.

Mick Saloninas is currently ranked fifth in the NAIA in the shot put with a season-best throw of 17.01 meters. Jonah Wilson is seventh in the nation with a mark of 16.54 meters. Both have already qualified for nationals. Alec Seifert, who has hit the B standard, has a top throw of 15.59 meters while Kyle Uhl has a mark of 14.93 meters.

As a squad, the four Bees combine for a distance of 64.07 meters. Marian is in second in the event squad rankings with a combined mark of 63.30 meters. Doane, Concordia (Neb.) and Midland round out the top five.
