Bees take on the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships

The St. Ambrose indoor track & field team took on the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships this week at the Mount Marty campus in Yankton, S.D.

Three individual athletes and one relay qualified for the National meet following their stellar performances at the CCAC Championships two weeks prior in Davenport, Iowa.

The women's distance medley took the track on Wednesday afternoon, running Megan Grady, Megan Jansett, Emma Duncan and Michaela Pieroni. The quartet finished 11th with a season-best time of 12:39.0c (12:47.18). The 11th-place finish marks the highest finish in the event at the national meet for the St. Ambrose women's track team.

Will Reemtsma ran the 400m dash semifinals on Thursday. Reemtsma's time of 51.05 was the ninth-fastest time in the premlims, improving from his pre-meet ranking of 12th.

Michaela Pieronicapped off her spectacularsophomore season on Friday with an All-American performance in the 5000m run. Pieroni finished eighth overall with a time of 17:55.50, making her the first All-American distance runner in St. Ambrose women's track program history.

Mick Saloninas competed in the shot put on Saturday. Unfortunately, a great sophomore campaign ended with three scratches in the circle.

The Fighting Bees track & field teams will now turn their attention to the upcoming 2021 outdoor season.
