Bees record win over Spartans

The St. Ambrose men's tennis team secured a 7-2 win over the University of Dubuque Tuesday afternoon in Dubuque, Iowa. This victory is the Bees' third in a row and was the 10th win of the year, matching last year's win total. SAU hadn't previously won 10 duals since the 2014-15 season.

The Bees got off to a strong start in doubles, winning two out of the three matches. At No. 1 doubles, Brian Lelm and Gabriel Guimaray won 8-6 and Gianfranco Garcia Medina and Jaime Febres won 8-7 at No. 2 doubles. Connor Leibforth and Cade Timmons lost a close 8-6 match at No. 3 doubles.

The Bees would use the positive momentum from doubles in their singles matches, as they won five out of the six singles matches. In the five singles matches that the Bees won, they lost just 10 games total. Lelm got things started with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles. Guimaray won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, Garcia Medina won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, Febres won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and Leibforth won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.

The Bees will look to keep their winning streak going on Saturday, April 6, when they travel to Bourbonnais, Ill., to face Olivet Nazarene in their CCAC opener.
