Bees earn 5-2 victory over Central

The St. Ambrose men's tennis team was back on the court Friday afternoon, earning a 5-2 dual meet victory over Central College at the QC Tennis Club. The win for the Bees brings their record on the season to 7-3 overall, and 5-0 at home.

The Bees got off to a good start by winning two of the three doubles matches and earning the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Brian Lelm and Gabriel Guimaray earned a 6-2 victory for the Bees, and Gianfranco Garcia Medina and Jaime Febres earned a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles, giving the Bees a 1-0 advantage heading into singles.

The Bees won singles matches one through four, which clinched the dual. All of the Bees wins in singles were in straight sets. At No. 1 singles, Lelm won in dominating fashion, winning 6-0, 6-1. Guimaray won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 singles. Garcia Medina won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles, and Febres won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.

Cade Timmons and Connor Leibforth fell at No. 5 and 6 singles, respectively, for SAU. Leibforth and Marcus Lang dropped their match at No. 3 doubles.

The Bees are in action again next Friday, when they host Grand View at the QC Tennis Club in Moline, Ill. The dual starts at 3 p.m.
