St. Ambrose defeats Monmouth, Loras

St. Ambrose men's tennis defeated Monmouth 9-0 on Friday afternoon on the road and took down Loras 5-2 on Saturday at home.

The Bees were spectacular in their Friday match versus Monmouth, with SAU winning by an identical 6-0, 6-0 scored for No. 1 through No. 5 singles. Brian Lelm and Benedikt Rake played No. 1 and No. 2 singles for St. Ambrose. Those two then combined for an 8-0 win in doubles. Gianfranco Garcia Medina (No. 3), Jaime Febres (No. 4), and Connor Leibforth (No. 5) also won their singles matches. Marcus Lang won by forfeit at No. 6 singles. Garcia Medina and Febres also won their doubles match with an 8-0 score line and Leibforth and Lang got a win via forfeit for the 9-0 final.

Against Loras at home Saturday morning, the Bees picked up wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles, and No. 1, 2, 3, and 4 singles. Lelm/Rake and Garcia Medina/Febres each won their doubles matches to pick up the point for SAU. Lelm won 2-6, 6-3, 10-4 at No. 1 singles. Rake won 6-0, 7-6 at No. 2. Garcia Medina and Febres won their singles matches as well. Leibforth and Lang fell in their singles contests and at No. 3 doubles, but St. Ambrose would pick up a 5-2 victory.

The Bees will travel to Des Moines, Iowa on September 15 to take on Grand View at noon.
