Bees again close in dual loss to Judson
St. Ambrose got off to a great start in doubles play but couldn't carry that momentum over to singles action in a 4-1 loss to Judson Tuesday at Davenport West High School.
The Bees won the doubles point by taking two of the three matches. Paulo Vitor and Brian Lelm cruised to a 6-2 win at No. 1 and Bennet Piotrowski and Greyson Piotrowski battled for a 6-4 win at No. 3. The No. 2 team of Gabriel Guimaray and Gianfranco Garcia fell 6-1.
But then SAU dropped all four of the completed singles matches.
Garcia fell in three sets 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 at No. 4. Guimaray and the Piotrowskis each fell in straight sets.
Vitor was trailing 4-3 in the third set at No. 1 singles and Lelm was down 1-0 in the third at No. 2 in the two unfinished matches.
St. Ambrose, now 8-10 overall and 0-3 in the CCAC, will visit Augustana Wednesday.
