St. Ambrose picked up two more dual victories over the weekend, defeating Dubuque 7-0 Friday and Hamline 5-4 Saturday. The wins moved the Bees to 5-1 on the fall.

Forced indoors due to rain Saturday, the Bees won four of the six singles matches to narrowly defeat Hamline. The top of the lineup carried St. Ambrose as SAU won the top four singles matches, all in straight sets. 

Paulo Vitor had the easiest time, winning his match at No. 1 6-2, 6-0. Brian Lelm and Gianfranco Garcia both battled through the first set before cruising in the second at No. 2 and 3, respectively. Lelm won 6-3, 6-1 while Garcia earned a 6-4, 6-1 win. Bennet Piotrowski picked up the toughest win, and the one that ultimately decided the dual. He prevailed 6-3, 6-4. 

The Bees were competitive in the two singles losses. Greyson Piotrowski fell 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5 and Connor Leibforth dropped a heartbreaker 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 11-9 at No. 5.

The four singles wins and Vitor-Lelm's 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles was enough to clinch the team victory.

A day earlier, St. Ambrose breezed to a shutout of Dubuque.

The No. 1 doubles team of Vitor and Lelm and the No. 2 team of Garcia and Bennet Piotrowski each won 6-0. Greyson Piotrowski and Leibforth paired for a 7-5 win at No. 3.

Vitor (6-1, 6-4), Lelm (6-0, 6-1), Garcia (6-2, 6-0) and Bennet Piotrowski (6-1, 6-0) combined to drop just nine games over the top four singles matches. Greyson Piotrowski won in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. Leibforth was again extended to a third-set super-tiebreaker, but this time he prevailed after dropping the opening set 1-6, 6-2, 13-11.

SAU will close the fall portion of its schedule next week. The Bees will visit Simpson Wednesday before concluding the fall at the Milwaukee School of Engineering Friday.
