St. Ambrose drops 4-3 decision at Roosevelt

St. Ambrose closed the regular season with a disappointing 4-3 loss at Roosevelt in Chicago Saturday. The Bees lost three of the five contested singles matches which proved to be the difference.

The two teams split doubles play. SAU's No. 2 team of Bennet Piotrowski and Matt Zuccato came through with a 7-5 win. The top team of Brian Lelm and Greyson Piotrowski fell 6-4. Neither team fielded a No. 3 doubles team.

Lelm and Zuccato were the two Bees to claim wins in singles action. Lelm dropped just a single game in his 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles. Zuccato was extended to three sets in his 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 win at No. 4.

Bennet Piotrowski nearly got St. Ambrose the win but after winning the first set, he fell 5-7, 7-6, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Greyson Piotrowski and James Boustead fell in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 5, respectively. There was no match at No. 6 singles.
