Bees drop spring opener
The St. Ambrose men's tennis team opened the spring portion of their schedule on Saturday. They played two matches on the day, with the first being against Wartburg.
Wartburg won the match 7-0, but the Bees were competitive in doubles. The No. 1 doubles team of Brian Lelm and Greyson Piotrowski lost by a score of 6-3, and the No. 2 team of Bennet Piotrowski and Jack Schieferdecker and the No. 3 team of Matt Zuccato and Connor Leibforth each lost by a score of 6-4.
The Bees dropped their second match by a score of 5-2 against Illinois Wesleyan. The No. 3 doubles team of Zuccato and Jacob Decker won their match by a score of 6-3. In singles, Zuccato also won his match at No. 5 by a score of 6-1, 6-2.
The Bees are in action next on Feb. 26 when they will play Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
