Bees get two more victories to wrap up fall season

St. Ambrose closed out the fall portion of its schedule with two more victories. The Bees defeated Wisconsin Lutheran and Buena Vista by identical 4-3 scores to move to 4-1 on the year.

In the first meet, SAU won all three doubles matches and got the necessary split of the six singles matches to slip past Wisconsin Lutheran.

All three singles victories came in straight sets. Brian Lelm cruised through the second set in his 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 1. Matt Zuccato won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 5 and Jacob Decker won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6.

Lelm and Greyson Piotrowski teamed for a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles. Zuccato and Connor Leibforth picked up a 6-3 win at No. 2. Decker and Jack Schieferdecker were pushed to a tiebreaker before they prevailed 7-6 (7-2) at No. 3 doubles.

The win over Buena Vista came down to a third-set super-tiebreaker.

Lelm and Piotrowski (6-3) and Zuccato and Leibforth (6-4) won at No. 1 and 2 doubles, respectively, to give St. Ambrose the doubles point.

Lelm only dropped a single game in his 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and Zuccato earned a straight-set 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5.

Schieferdecker rallied to seal the win with a 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-8 win at No. 2 singles. Piotrowski fell 10-7 in his third-set breaker.
