St. Ambrose drops dual to Lewis

St. Ambrose dropped a home dual to Lewis at the Davenport Central Natatorium Friday. The men lost 165.5-109.5 while the women fell 172-87.

The SAU women had a pair of dual-event winners. Leyre Antonanzas won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:14.34, just ahead of teammate Grace Bobeldyk, who took second in 2:17.13. Antonanzas also won the 400-yard individual medley in 4:41.85.

Bridget O'Grady also won two events, leading the Bees in both breaststroke races. She won the 100 breast in 1:08.89. Kate Henson (1:11.34) was third and Molly Duehr (1:12.20) was fifth. O'Grady touched the wall in the 200 breast in 2:29.81 while Irene Artabe (2:34.75), Henson (2:35.51) and Duehr (2:38.53) finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively. O'Grady also took fourth in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:04.83 while Rylie Steinkamp placing fifth in 1:07.81.

Bobeldyk (5:24.45) and Bryn Kiley (5:29.30) placed second and third, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle. Kiley was also third in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:00.37 and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle in 56.97 seconds. Anna Gute was just ahead of Kiley in the 100 free, taking fourth in 55.98 seconds. Gute was also fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.49 seconds, and Artabe was fifth in 25.91 seconds.

The Bees also got top-five efforts from Amanda Beuth (third in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:05.27), Riley Loeffler (fourth in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:25.15), Annaliese Bowser (fourth in the 1650-yard freestyle in 20:21.59) and Amber Warak (fifth in the 1650 free in 20:56.60).

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Gute, Bobeldyk, Kiley and Artabe was second in 1:44.03, while Marin Powell, Schyon Drolema, Henson and Duehr were third in 1:48.45. Artabe, O'Grady, Antonanzas and Gute's time of 1:51.54 was good for second in the 200-yard medley relay. Beuth, Henson, Bobeldyk and Duehr were fourth in 1:56.82.

For the men, Bram Mess and Lane Otte were first and second in the 1-meter diving event. Mess earned a score of 212.10 while Otte finished with a mark of 192.80.

The Bees had four of the top-five finishers in the 200-yard butterfly. Marat Usov was the champion, touching in 1:55.64. Juan Gomez was third in 2:02.33, just ahead of William Walker-Rozo (2:04.81) and Carson Maxwell (2:05.10). Usov was also the runner-up in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:12.20. Sebastian Pereira was third in 4:27.97 and Luke Sproule was fourth in 4:28.08.

Jonas Friess was the other St. Ambrose winner, taking the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.29. Panagiotis Pappous was third in 1:49.02. Friess was also second in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:47.77. Jonathan Rollwa finished fourth in 5:00.49 and Truitt Landolt was fifth in 5:22.89.

Mikhi Hassim was second in two events - the 100-yard backstroke in 52.64 seconds and the 100-yard butterfly in 51.13 seconds. Gomez was fifth in the 100 fly in 54.13 seconds. Cory Werrett also earned a pair of runner-up finishes. He was second in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.33 seconds while Brett Jones was fourth in 21.90 seconds. Werrett added a second-place effort in the 100-yard freestyle in 48.03 seconds with Pappous fifth in 48.51 seconds.

Rollwa took second in the 1650-yard freestyle in 17:33.74. Landolt was fourth in 19:01.24 and Sam Gillham was fifth in 19:22.03. Walter de Jongh (2:22.54), Ben Patterson (2:27.18) and Thomas Noller (2:29.37) were third, fourth and fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke. Pereira was third in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.71 while de Jongh was fourth in 1:02.88. Michael Taylor took fourth in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:03.12 while Egoitz Munoz Moreno was fifth in 2:04.43.

Hassim, Carter Gaber, Jones and Werrett were second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:25.83. Pappous, Skylar Drolema, Nikolai Valencia and Benny Zarhin were third in 1:28.91. Munoz Moreno, Pereira, Hassim and Werrett teamed for second in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:37.02. Gaber, de Jongh, Gomez and Zarhin were third in 1:38.33.

The Bees will next face Davenport University in Kentwood, Mich., next Friday and Saturday.
