Seventeen recognized on Senior Day

St. Ambrose recognized a group of 17 during its Senior Day dual vs. Augustana Friday night at Davenport Central. 

Bethany Anderson, Kelly Baughman, Rhi Benjamin, Sydney Branson, Gabe Carlson, Dani Crum, Victor Del Rio FocesGrant HamiltonNolan HareCaleb HeiarBryce Hoffer, Grace Johanns, Carmelo Patti IIReece PowellZac RobinsonQuincy WalkerRyan Warrick, their families and friends were celebrated at the final home dual of the year.

The Bee men then went out and defeated the Vikings 173-35 while the women fell 118-97.

The SAU men dominated the freestyle events. The Bees went 1-2-3-4 in the 50, 100 and 200 free. Brett Jones won the 50 free in 21.51 seconds. He was followed by Ryan WarrickLeo Edwards and Petter Kolaas. Edwards took the 100 free (47.83 seconds) ahead of Zac Robinson, Warrick and Victor Del Rio Foces. In the 200 free, Ryan Joehl was the winner in 1:45.11, and Grant NelsonJuan Gomez and Egoitz Munoz rounded out the top four.

The success carried over into the longer events. Gomez claimed the 500-yard freestyle in 4:54.57 with Truitt Landolt placing second. Del Rio Foces touched the wall in 11:12.68 to win the 1000 free with Anthony Erramouspe coming in second.

The Bees also took the top four spots in a tightly-contested 100-yard breaststroke. Teammates Petter Kolaas and Gabe Carlson tied for first with matching times of 1:00.35. Jaden Dydell was right behind, taking third in 1:00.36. Mikhi Hassim was fourth in 1:00.76.

Hassim won the 100-yard butterfly in 51.31 seconds. William Walker-Rozo was second and Bryce Hoffer fourth. Joehl was the champion in the 100-yard backstroke in 52.98 seconds. Garret Sims and Munoz were third and fourth. Rais Hassim won the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:00.83. Walker-Rozo and Ben Patterson took third and fourth.

Bram Mess won the men's 1-meter diving competition with a score of 221.35.

SAU also finished 1-2 in both relays. Jones, Rais HassimCaleb Heiar and Warrick took the 400 free relay in 3:09.49. Del Rio Foces, Edwards, Gomez and Robinson were second. Joehl, Rais HassimMikhi Hassim and Jones won the 200 medley relay in 1:35.19, with Quincy Walker, Carlson, Heiar and Robinson coming in second.

Molly Duehr won a pair of events for the St. Ambrose women. She took the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10.48. Duehr also won the 100-yard freestyle in 55.15 seconds. Marin Powell was third and Amber Warak was fourth. Warak also finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle.

Lauren Williams won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:18.67. Bethany Anderson had a time of 1:00.07 to win the 100-yard butterfly. Rylie Steinkamp was third. Leyre Antonanzas claimed the 200-yard individual medley in 2:09.15 with Sydney Branson placing fourth.

Andrea Adam finished with a score of 259.40 to win the 1-meter diving event.

Anderson, Antonanzas and Williams also helped SAU win both relays. They teamed with Powell to take the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:40.99, and combined with Duehr to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:51.81.

St. Ambrose will host one final meet this season. The Midwest Invite will be held Feb. 11-12 at Davenport Central.
