Johnson scores in loss to Eagles

After a nearly two-hour weather delay, St. Ambrose men's soccer faced the Judson Eagles Tuesday night at the St. Vincent's Athletic Complex for a CCAC contest. Keaton Johnson scored for the Bees in the second half, but the Eagles netted three early in the game to take a 3-1 victory in Davenport.

Judson (3-4-1, 2-2 CCAC) got on the board in the 15th minute to take an early 1-0 lead. In the 17th minute, Zach Bauer stopped a shot by the Eagles, but the ball rebounded to another Judson player for a score and a 2-0 lead. The visitors would add another in the 20th minute to take a 3-0 halftime lead. Thomas Gaither had the lone attempt on goal for SAU (1-4-2, 1-2 CCAC) in the first half.

St. Ambrose's first chance in the second half came in the 70th minute, but Berto Medrano's header went wide. SAU got a goal back in the 73rd minute from Johnson. Johnson scored from a free kick and was able to get around the Judson wall and keeper to make it 3-1. The Eagles went down to 10 men in the 80th minute due to a red card, but the Bees were unable to capitalize on the man advantage for the final ten minutes.

Gaither, Johnson, and Medrano were the only SAU players to record shot attempts. The Bees were outshot 14-5. Bauer finished with three saves in the loss.

St. Ambrose will be back at home on Wednesday, October 4 for another CCAC matchup. The Bees will take on Indiana Northwest at 5 p.m. at the St. Vincent's Athletic Complex.
