SAU shutout by Tigers

St. Ambrose men's soccer traveled to Bourbonnais, Ill. to take on the Olivet Nazarene Tigers Wednesday night for a conference match. The Bees were outshot 37-7 and suffered a 5-0 defeat at the Snowbarger Complex.

The home team got on the board in the 12th minute to go up 1-0. Owen Gannaway recorded the lone shot for SAU in the half in the 16th minute. Four minutes later, ONU added a score to make it 2-0 in the 20th minute. Zach Bauer made seven saves in the first half for the Bees as the visitors headed into the locker room down two goals.

Olivet added another score in the 51st minute to increase their lead to 3-0. Sam Flello had a chance for SAU in the 51st minute, but his shot was blocked, and Dylan Ollendieck put a shot wide left in the 52nd minute for the Bees. The Tigers would score twice more - in the 57th and 79th minutes - for the 5-0 victory.

Bauer finished with 11 saves in the loss. Justin Tackett had two shots for St. Ambrose, and Ryan Evans, Joe Casebolt, Gannaway, Flello, and Ollendieck had the other chances for the Bees.

SAU will continue conference play on Saturday, September 23rd, facing Saint Xavier at 11 a.m. in Davenport.
