Gaither finds net in Bees' loss

St. Ambrose scored to tie things at one goal each in the second half, but it wasn't enough as the Bees fell to the Holy Cross Saints by a score of 3-1. The Bees fell to 3-6-1 overall and 2-3-1 in the CCAC. The Saints improved to 6-4-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the CCAC.

Holy Cross opened the scoring through Axel Valenzuela in the 10th minute. The Bees had three shots in the first half, but went in behind at halftime.

Trailing 1-0 in the second half, the Bees were searching for a way back into the game. They were able to find that in the 61st minute. Joseph Gaither Jr.'s left-footed strike went past the keeper and into the bottom corner for his first goal of the season to level the score at 1-1. Holy Cross was able to restore their lead with goals from Erick Zelaya in the 76th minute and a free kick from Elmin Ejup in the 87th minute.

The Bees accumulated a total of nine shots throughout the game, and goalkeeper Zach Bauer was credited with seven saves.

SAU will be in action next when they host St. Francis (Ill.) next Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
