Bagley scores, St. Ambrose shuts out Trinity Christian

St. Ambrose won their second straight game and earned a second shutout victory Tuesday night against conference opponent Trinity Christian. The Bees (3-5-1, 2-2-1 CCAC) managed just four shots in the match but got the game's only goal to take a 1-0 win in Palos Heights, Ill.

SAU got the lead early, with Aidan Bagley scoring in the 11th minute. The Trolls (1-7-2, 1-4-1 CCAC) had the opportunity to tie it up in the 13th minute, but the attempt went high. Trinity Christian had three more chances in the first half, but each shot missed the mark. Alex Perez had a shot in the 42nd minute that went wide as St. Ambrose would take a one-goal lead into the half. 

Each team's traded chances in the 60th and 61st minute with Ethan Holke's shot going wide for the Bees. Zach Bauer was called into action in the 73rd minute to preserve the SAU lead. A chance from Sam Flello went wide in the 79th minute, and the Trolls went on the attack from there, garnering the final five chances. But the Bee defense closed it out to secure the 1-0 victory. 

Bauer was credited with three saves in the win. The Bees were outshot 12-4 but had a slight 7-6 advantage in corner kicks. 

St. Ambrose will be back at home on Saturday, October 1 to take on Holy Cross at 1 p.m.
