SAU drops season finale at Governors State

St. Ambrose traveled to Crown Point, Ind. on Wednesday afternoon to face Governors State University. Piercarlo Ricossa made six saves for the Bees, but the Jaguars were able to nab a second-half goal to take a 1-0 win at the Sportsplex. 

SAU had the first few chances to score in the game, but Mitchell Petrosky had his shot blocked in the 1st minute, and Nathan Lukasik's chance was blocked in the 5th minute. Ricossa made three of his saves in a span of six minutes, turning away shots from GSU's Agustin Vivas and Elian Munoz. A Tobi Bierle shot went wide in the 22nd minute, and Blake Biery forced the Jaguar keeper into a save in the 37th minute. Joseph Gaither had two opportunities go wide, and the teams would be deadlocked at the break. 

Governors State was able to get on the scoreboard just six minutes into the second half on a goal from John Gonzalez. Ricossa turned away two more shots in the 64th minute to keep the deficit at one. Rory Hannon got a shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the St. Ambrose offense couldn't get much going as the home team would get the 1-0 victory. The Bees would finish with seven total shots - two on goal. 

Hannon finishes the year with seven goals, a team best. Justin Tackett, Biery, and Spencer Pyle had the next best efforts, scoring three goals this season. David Morsey led the way in assists with three. Ricossa recorded 46 saves this season, while Miguel Bayma had 26, and Kai Domagala had six.

St. Ambrose wraps up their season at 5-10-2 overall and 2-10-1 in the conference.
